           Reiki is a Japanese term that means “Universal Life Force Energy.”

            What we have around us is a wonderful healing energy that can be used to heal ourselves internally in a physical, emotional and spiritual way. Reiki is
    thousands of years old originating in Japan and was reborn in the mid 1800's with the re-emergence of this healing art by a Japanese man named Dr.
    Mikao Usui. After being challenged by one of his students at a College where he was rector, to explain the healing that Christ performed with his hands, Dr.
    Usui set out on a lengthy search which lasted many years and took him to America, Japan, China and Tibet. It was in Japan that he met with Zen Buddhist
    monks who meditated with him and led him to a mountain where he meditated alone for 21 days praying for the answer of how to heal with the hands. On
    the 21st day he received the information he had searched so long for. This healing art has been passed on from Dr.Usui to others through a series of
    attunements, which enable the healer to pass this healing energy to themselves and others.

            Reiki is a very simple, non-intrusive process. A full body healing takes approximately 45 minutes, according to individual needs.

            The patient or healee, may lie down or sit, fully clothed. Relaxing music is played and scented candles or oils can be burned in order to enhance the
    mood. The Reiki Practitioner places his hands lightly on the body in various positions, for about three to four minutes, and then moves to the next position.
    A sensation of warmth, cold or tingling may be experienced, plus a general feeling of well-being. The whole body is treated, not just an isolated area,
    although the Reiki Healer will know intuitively which parts of the patient's body require additional treatment.  Universal Life Force Energy is released from
    the Healer's hands to the patient's body, which in turn enlivens the healee's own inner energies. Thus, once the Reiki Energy is transferred, it is really the
    healer's job to stand aside, to keep the healing space open, observe and let the patient's own energies do the work.  The setting in motion of the patient's
    own self-healing processes continues long after the treatment is over.











             In this context, the word Healing has a somewhat different meaning from the "normal" meaning.  The widely accepted meaning for healing seems to be
    curing of symptoms, for that appears to be what medical doctors and the like look to do in their practice.  The other meaning for healing, used in the
    practice of Reiki, as well as other related areas, is the return of mind, body and spirit to greater wholeness.... There is an ideal form each of us has, this ideal
    form being the highest and clearest expression of who we are.  Pain or disease comes from any deviation between the persons current form in the 3D
    physical world and this ideal form.  Healing, then, is to bring this physical form into closer alignment with the ideal form.

    psychological condition that in addition to getting Reiki treatments, clients also consult a licensed physician or other licensed health care professional, as
    Reiki works well in conjunction with all allopathic medical or psychological care.
